Apeejay Surrendra's tradition of social commitment is as old as the Group itself. Founder Pyare Lal pioneered the belief that businesses have a responsibility to their communities. In some of the old papers is recorded how the first Tanda Road factory had only one fan, that too in the area where the labour worked. Community service has remained an Apeejay hallmark, even as the group companies expanded into new cities with their different cultures.
The tradition of social commitment instilled by Founder Pyare Lal has flourished over the decades, inspired and strengthened further by Jit Paul, Shirin Paul and finally shaped into a full formed social sector initiative under the leadership of Karan Paul. By making this policy on Individual Social Responsibility (ISR), we are taking Family commitment a level higher to bring the employees in its fold and reinvigorating community service theme across the group companies.
Group Employees have been encouraged to share time and talents with their own cities and towns and many are doing so. In step with the ISR policy, Apeejay will equip employee volunteers with a set of NGOs in their location and through this web based ISR portal and application enable them to learn more about the opportunities underway at their locations, volunteer for work in their areas of interest, access to offline orientation & training sessions to understand volunteering ethics with our partner i Volunteer. Eventually we hope that the efforts will improve the quality of life of our immediate communities in measurable ways. Employees will also be able to log their volunteering hours and experiences which will spur others to be the change they want to see.
We hope to add value to the efforts of the following list of NGOs through Apeejay volunteers.
